Ah, it is beginning. Phobos is preparing for the Ceremony of the Amalgamation. Hair for body. Perfect test for her mind. Spirit is hardest. He must capture her breath.

—Yan Lin

Stop the Presses is the thirteenth episode of season 1 of the TV series.

Plot[]

Main article: /Transcript

Phobos was preparing the Ceremony of the Amalgamation. He needed symbols of Elyon's body, mind, and spirit. Cedric took her hairbrush, A+ math test, and was trying to take her breath. Taranee and an unwilling Irma became part of the school newspaper staff. They sent Blunk to keep watch over Elyon and they also found out there's a portal at the school. Meanwhile, Martin caught a glimpse of a Hermaneutibeast from Meridian and the only thing that could get him away long enough for the girls to send it back home was a date with Irma.

Catching the little beast was not easy, especially when the mom showed up. In the end, Cedric finally captured Elyon's own breath in a balloon and all that was left is to take her to Meridian.

In the B-story, Irma was angry when she finds out she had to work on the newspaper with Martin, and Caleb and Blunk were assigned to keep a watchful eye on Elyon.

Behind the scenes[]

Possible mistakes[]

  • During the first transformation sequence, when Cornelia was surrounded in green energy, she was wearing a skirt (like she was in It Begins) but prior to transforming, she was wearing jeans. This is possibly because this episode used footage of Cornelia from the first transformation as her body position is also the same.
  • When Irma and Taranee were speaking at the end of the episode, Irma's voice says "or not" but only Taranee's mouth moves.

Quotes[]

Cornelia:

It's gotta be Phobos. We have to warn her.

Will:

We're not even sure this has anything to do with him!

Cedric:

Representations of the princess, her mind and body.

Phobos:

Excellent. [cackling] And her spirit?

Cedric:

Oh, I shall get the last symbol by tomorrow before the sun sets.

Phobos is shaping the Veil so all the holes in it are near his sister.

Trivia[]

  • The three essential items required for "the Ceremony of the Amalgamation" are representations of one's entire being: body, mind, and spirit.
  • When the W.I.T.C.H. girls transformed, they did not call out the names of their elements.
  • Irma was the only one of the girls who did not transform into her Guardian form in this episode.
  • This episode marks the first time in the series that Irma has dressed more obviously feminine, as opposed to her usual tomboyish style.
  • In this episode, Irma, Martin, Taranee, Uriah, the Grumper sisters, and an unnamed student ended up working on the school newspaper. In L is for Loser, much of the same team - except for Taranee and the unnamed student - volunteered to work at the school's new radio station.
  • In this episode, the Guardians got Blunk to watch Elyon, and he continued this mission into the next episode. This is not the only time in the series that the Guardians assigned Blunk to spy on someone, as in Q is for Quarry, Will tasked him with investigating Sarina Sanchez.
